As a bridge between research, industry, and society, we shape and promote human-centered Artificial Intelligence.
The IPAI Foundation explores how we as a society can drive societal and technological progress through human-centered Artificial Intelligence.
To do so, we integrate perspectives from key stakeholders and empower them through various formats—covering science, research, business, society, and the public sector.
The Foundation invites people to actively participate in newest developments, discourses, and decisions concerning AI, thus breaking down fears and barriers. It actively places pioneering perspectives on human-centered technology approaches and Artificial Intelligence on the public agenda.
Furthermore, it focuses on promoting research and knowledge transfer. It ensures that the latest insights and technologies are integrated into business practices, the public sector, and society in a responsible and value-creating manner.
As a nonprofit organization, the IPAI Foundation complements the AI innovation platform IPAI, making a vital contribution to the shared vision of shaping the Global Home of Human AI.
The Foundation therefore focuses on two core areas: Advancing AI science and its transformation ("AI Science & Transformation") and fostering active dialogue, knowledge acquisition, and public engagement with AI ("AI Engagement & Literacy").
Our goal: To build trust in AI, empower and enable people to utilize the new technology, and shape a nuanced societal dialogue—one that sparks enthusiasm for AI and the future.
The IPAI Foundation is committed to purposefully transferring scientific knowledge into society, business, and the public sector to promote sustainable and socially relevant solutions through the use of AI. It aims to close existing research gaps, for example, through funding programs, and supports collaboration and the joint development of innovations between leading research institutions, businesses, and public organizations. Furthermore, it actively places pioneering perspectives on human-centered technology approaches and Artificial Intelligence on the public agenda and actively shapes them.
As initial step, it specifically focuses on the development of projects and programs tackling the following themes: Women in AI, GovTech, and AI research transfer through the IPAI Science Residency program
In the area of AI Engagement & Literacy, the IPAI Foundation creates various opportunities to engage with AI in accessible ways, such as through playful or artistic approaches. It aims to inspire people, spark their interest in technology, and reduce apprehensions.
The goal is to create an informed, engaged, and inclusive environment in which everyone has the ability and opportunity to engage constructively and responsibly with AI.
Through various formats, the IPAI Foundation brings its mission to life.
Every weekday from 9 AM to 5 PM, the IPAI Living Room serves as a public AI visitor center in Heilbronn’s Zukunftspark Wohlgelegen.
Visitors can engage with AI technology through constantly changing interactive exhibits and art installations, for instance, explore real-world applications from companies, race against an AI in a car simulation, or transform their doodles into artwork in the style of a specific era within seconds.
In the applied AI Studio, visitors can attend engaging lectures and courses on trustworthy AI.
The IPAI Café invites guests to discuss their experiences in a cozy atmosphere while enjoying a regularly refreshed selection of drinks and snacks. It also serves as a central meeting point for the IPAI community. In the summer, sunshades on the outdoor terrace provide plenty of shade and the perfect setting for inspiring conversations.
The IPAI Living Room Sessions are a public event format held regularly at the IPAI Living Room in the IPAI SPACES.
Once a quarter, the IPAI Foundation invites experts to offer unique insights into the world of AI through lectures, discussions, or other interactive formats, each with a changing theme. The evenings are rounded off with music, guided tours, and snacks and drinks at the IPAI Café.
The KI Salon is an event series organized by the IPAI Foundation, taking place at various locations in the city and region. The goal is to bring the discussion of current AI topics into society. The program is actively shaped by volunteers.
The KI Festival is an annual highlight of the Heilbronn AI landscape. For all generations, from young to old, the two-day event attracts up to 10,000 visitors to the Zukunftspark Wohlgelegen, celebrating and showcasing AI in all its facets: With interactive experiences, live music, lectures, artistic installations, and hands-on workshops for everyone.
The IPAI Foundation specifically supports postdoctoral researchers working on human-centered AI.
